During the wait period while our Charitable Trust application was being processed we joined the Gift Collective, themselves a registered Charitable Trust. Their service removes the need for community groups to be registered charities and all the associated legal and tax paperwork that comes with it. We found the 8% fee to be a completely acceptable trade off for not having to do things like filing tax returns or annual reports etc. On 02/12 I informed Charity NZ of our intention to withdraw our application (at that time I was informed our application was still in the wait list and hadn't been processed) but remarkably, the day after this phone call I received an email confirming our application had been processed. We no longer need to be a registered charity and would like to be de-registered.
