Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Wairua Ataahua is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space for Māori and Pasifika people seeking peace, healing, and connection. We provide a wide range of traditional and contemporary programs that draw from both te ao Māori and Pasifika practices, including mirimiri, romiromi, mahi ā wairua, rongoā Māori, kapa haka, te reo Māori, Te Tiriti education, whakapapa, cultural dance and music, religious and historical studies, healing retreats, sports, and exercise. Our work is centred on supporting mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. We are committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent our people from seeking help — barriers often rooted in intergenerational trauma, anger, and shame. By engaging with practices that are culturally familiar and deeply meaningful, we aim to strengthen identity, foster belonging, and create pathways for individuals to feel safe in opening up, seeking support, and accessing wider opportunities for growth and healing.
