The objects and purposes of the Trust are to carry out charitable purposes within the meaning of section 5 of the Charities Act 2005, principally to advance education, through teaching Māori language and Tikanga Māori. This includes fostering and nurturing the language and Tikanga for use on the paepae and encouraging New Zealanders, other peoples who live in New Zealand and those culturally connected to New Zealand, to speak Māori.
