Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Our mission is to support, empower, and enrich global communities; predominantly in countries that suffer from widespread poverty, natural disasters, and have an ongoing need for assistance and development. Our focus is to build and develop relationships with communities on a project by project basis. We aim to provide grassroots assistance focused around developing local schools, farms, and other fundamental community resources and assets. Our approach is case by case, transparent, and personal.

Entity Structure

We are headquartered in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. We have three volunteer officers who each bring a different skillset to Caring for Communities. Pat Backley is an author, who previously worked in business management and large-scale charitable fundraising. Mike Hishon is a photographer and director with over ten years experience in the advertising and film industries. Lucy Backley works in sales, marketing and strategic business development for the art and design industries.
