Charitable Purpose

Te Kauika Tangaroa Charitable Trust works to ensure Ramari Oliphant Stewart’s mātauranga taiao legacy is preserved. Mātauranga taiao, its evolution and effective transmission, are critical to the survival of all species. Yet, the active practice of kaitiakitanga is in decline. The Trusts’ work will focus on indigenous enquiry, research and education as means to strengthen the capacity of kaitiaki practitioners and support a renewed living relationship with the natural world.
