Charitable Purpose

To receive, hold, manage and administer the Trust Fund on trust for every charitable purpose that provides, fulfils, protects and encourages training, education and advancement in skill and education of Te Arawa, for the benefit of Te Arawa and shall without limitation include: (a) establishing an education foundation to support the advancement in education of Te Arawa; and (b) support the education and advancement of Te Arawa through all Iwi, Runanga, Marae and Hapu of Te Arawa Waka

Entity Structure

The Punga (2018) Charitable Trust is a stand alone charitable trust. It has some oversight from the Te Kotahitanga o Te Arawa Waka Fisheries Trust Board (incorporated as a Trust Board under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957) as trustees of Punga (2018) Charitable Trust shall be appointed and removed by Te Kotahitanga o Te Arawa Waka Fisheries Trust Board. The Punga Charitable Trust will receive koha which it will invest and distribute for the benefit of Te Arawa in the form of scholarships.
