PAYPA's purpose is to promote and advance the education and enrichment of children and young people in Aotearoa New Zealand through various forms of theatrical art, including puppetry, dance, playwriting and performance, music and other performing arts. To that end, PAYPA is to operate as Aotearoa New Zealand's National Centre for ASSITEJ (Association Internationale de Theatre pour l'Enfance et Jeunesse / International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People).
