Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The intention is to continue to enhance the future of our Marae that will benefit the beneficiaries and mokopuna. We wish to continue to maintain the upkeep of our Marae and all buildings that will encourage our whanau/beneficiaries to return home to their Turangawaewae. An integral purpose is for our iwi, hapu to be proud of their identity and have knowledge of their whakapapa and history.

Manukau Marae is a marae on Maori Reservation Land. The Maori Reservation Regulations 1994 require that where a reservation is a marae the trustees of the reservation shall draw up, in agreement with the beneficiaries of the marae, a charter for the reservation. A copy of the Manukau Marae charter is published below. This Charter is not part of the formal rules of the marae as required under section 17(1)(c) of the Charities Act 2005.
