Charitable Purpose

Whareoranga established 1998 as a not-for-profit charity to serve the needs of people who live in Raahui Pookeka, Te Kauwhata, Taupiri and Ngaruawahia for affordable health and wellbeing activities.

Entity Structure

Representative governance from Rakaumanga kura (landlord with a Right to Occupy Agreement), 6 Raahui Pookeka Marae (community representation) and local Maori health providers (funders). Management is co-share between part-time paid and professional volunteers from members. Operations includes mix of volunteers and 2 part-time qualified gym and health instructors.
