Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To provide education about ocean and coastal environmental issues and ecology, through training, practical learning programs (eg Hauora Moana), creating educational materials, mentoring and presentations to students, community groups, hapu, whanau and the general public. To support communities to improve and enhance the health of their coastal and ocean ecosystems.

Entity Structure

We are based on the Tutukaka Coast, Northland. Our Trust Deed states we must have between four and six Trustees. Five Trustees currently constitute our governance board and include the positions of Facilitator, Secretary and Treasurer. The Trustees will use and apply the principles and methods of “Dynamic Governance”, the Circle Meeting format and Consent Decision Making process (as set out in Schedule A of the Trust Deed), in order to achieve the purposes of the Trust.
