To promote the understanding of Kapa haka (Maori performing arts), and other Maori art forms To support education settings to promote understanding of Te Ao Maori and Te Reo Maori To offer appropriate opportunities for students to grow and display their skills in kapa haka, waiata, and other Maori art forms by organising Maori performing arts/art events Where appropriate, to take up opportunities to enhance Manawhenua values and identify through waiata To undertake any activities consistent with above purposes

Entity Structure

The society is managed by an Executive Committee whose members are elected at the AGM as per the Constitution rules. There is also Society membership where people nominated by two existing members, and approved by the Executive on behalf of the Society, become members. Members include representatives from Arowhenua Whanau Services, Arowhenua Marae, Community Public Health, South Canterbury Primary Principals' Association, and the South Canterbury Early Childhood Leaders' Groups.
