Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To raise funds and assist in the raising of funds to provide new and improved facilities and equipment to Mercury Bay Area School in Whitianga for use by the school community as well as the wider community. Also to create a greater bond between Mercury Bay Area School staff and parents and caregivers and the wider community.

Entity Structure

The trust operates out of the offices of Mercury Bay Area School. The board of trustees are made up of between four and seven trustees (currently four trustees). The trustees are all volunteers. The trust's main activity is organising the annual Mercury Bay Carnival in Whitianga. The board of trustees is supported by a "Mercury Bay Carnival Committee" of any number of volunteers who want to be involved in the carnival.
