Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The promotion and operation of Neighbourhood Support in the area of Kawerau and surrounding districts in liaison with police, civil defense and Kawerau District Council to promote; crime prevention, assistance and communication in the event of natural disasters, keep records of members, administer a paid coordinator who will establish and support cell groups in neighbourhoods to encourage sound security and localized support.

Entity Structure

Our organization, which is an incorporated society run by a committee, will be affiliated with the National Neighbourhood Support organisation and be part of the regional committee. Kawerau Neighbourhood Support Incorporated (KNS) is supported by the Kawerau District Council who have two Councilors liaising with our committee. KNS has an office within the Kawerau Police Station in Islington Street, Kawerau. The committee is comprised of a chairperson, secretary, treasurer and committee members.
