The purpose of the Friends of Avonhead Cemetery is to benefit the community by preserving and enhancing the historical, natural and other features of the Avonhead Cemetery including the 22 February 2011 earthquake internment site, with a view to educating the community about the Cemetery and commemorating the Cemetery and its features.
