Purpose & Structure
Charitable Purpose
The charitable objects and purposes of the Trust ( the Trust purposes) are as follows:
(a) To promote literature and literacy through the celebration of books;
(b) To work with local and national and international writers, artisans, collectors, academics and others associated with the artefact of the book in order to celebrate and promote reading and books in general;
(c) To organise and host, through lectures, workshops, exhibitions and discussions, a range of artistic opportunities for writers, artists, artisans, performers and the wider community;
(d) To meet the above purposes and provide an enduring cultural benefit to Featherston and the wider community by hosting an annual festival inFeatherston ("Featherston Booktown") which will bring together people
working with and interested in books and reading;
(e) To encourage the young people of Featherston and the wider community to identify with books and reading by way of participation in regular Featherston Booktown events.
