Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purpose of the Rotorua Astronomical Society is to promote astronomy to anyone who is interested in knowing our place in the universe and how to appreciate the night sky for themselves. We welcome any members of the public to attend our monthly meetings and to join our society. Our objective is to let them see how privileged we are here in New Zealand in what is regarded to be one of the prime places on Earth for observing the night sky.

Entity Structure

Any person may become a member by making application to the Secretary for membership and paying a subscription fee to the Society. The Society runs a monthly meeting on the first Wednesday night of every month focused on various aspects of astronomical science and new discoveries.
