Charitable Purpose

To promote, encourage and reward standards of excellence in New Zealand literature. To administer New Zealand book awards for adult literature and raise funds and sponsorship for this purpose. To administer New Zealand children's book awards and raise funds and sponsorship for this purpose. To raise funding and sponsorship to administer from time to time such other book awards and events for literature. To increase involvement in developing the community's interest in reading and literacy. To encourage original contributions to New Zealand literature.
