Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The key purpose of Whai Manawa is two-fold: Assisting our Marae, Hapuu and Iwi to achieve the goals of Te Whakatupuranga 2050 by - Leadership - Kia Whai Maatauranga - Advancing education needs and priorities - Kia Whai Oranga - Advancing health needs and priorities - Kia Whai Mahi - Advancing job training Strengthening and enhancing the mana of our Marae, Hapuu and Iwi - By collaborating our knowledge, we contribute towards the momentum, support and cultural capacity of Waikato-Tainui - Improving Marae Development and administrating for start-up small businesses.

Entity Structure

The Constitution of Whai Manawa states that each of our twelve-member marae have the ability to each appoint a Director to the Board. We currently have two Directors from two marae that constitute our governance Board. Whai Manawa operations were coordinated with support from external and internal consultants where projects required.
