Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

On our Rules we stated the Objectives of our organization that we are : To promote and preserve the customs and languages of the Chinese culture, through the provision of an environment that fosters intellectual, mental and physical well-being, as well as providing opportunities for learning and connecting socially. To support the welfare of the Chinese community in Nelson and provide members with relevant information in a timely manner. To create opportunities for social interchange where the general public and Chinese community are able to gain an understanding, participate, mutually respect and accept one another's culture. To be and remain non-political and non-religious.

Entity Structure

Our organization Rules state that the Management Committee must comprise a maximum of 15 paid-up members in any year. We currently have 12 members in management committees that constitute our governance board, including four executive officer positions: President, Vice President. Subcommittees in Nelson and Marlborough to manage the day-to-day operation of the organisatio treasurer and secretary. Committee members may lead/coordinate projects as determined by our annual work plan and priorities.
