Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To achieve the guaranteed protection of TAONGA TUKU IHO for the land, sea, water and air resources according to the cultural values of our ancestors for present and future generations. AND To protect and advocate for sustainable living and usage of our land and natural resources as kaitiakitanga o nga whenua, nga ngahere me nga awa o Ngati Hine by focusing on: ECO-LIVING: To support whanau to live sustainably on their papakainga, to have healthy, warm homes, with quality water security, food security and energy supply, etc. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: To generate critical mass within Ngati Hine, by developing our own internal capacity and capability within nga hapu o Ngati Hine, by providing environmental wananga which focus on “in the field, hands on learning” including environmental monitoring and protection, etc. RESEARCH: To develop and promote matauranga Ngati Hine, to understand our environment and advocate for sustainable use of land, waterways and other natural resources.
