Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purpose of our Marae is to provide facilities for hui, wananga, tangihanga, and whanau gatherings. To provide a meeting place/marae for the common use and benefit of the members of Ngati Te Rangiunuora Hapu. A place where, no matter how far you go, you can always return to.

Taurua Marae is a marae on Māori Reservation Land. The Māori Reservation Regulations 1994 require that where a reservation is a marae the trustees of the reservation shall draw up, in agreement with the beneficiaries of teh marae, a charter for the reservation. A copy of the Taurua Marae charter is published below. This charter is not part of the formal rules of the marae as required under s17(1)(c) of the Charities Act 2005.
