Charitable Purpose
Establish, support and promote the Mercer (Te Paina) Art and History Museum (the Museum) as a place where the art and history of the Mercer area and surrounds may be conserved, displayed, interpreted, studied and cherished and made available for the benefit of local people, visitors to the area and generally the people of New Zealand:
Support and encourage the acquisition by purchase or otherwise, collection, conservation, custody and display to the public of objects of local art and historical interest by the Museum;
Stimulate the community's appreciation, understanding, enjoyment of and interest and involvement in, local art and history;
Organise exhibitions, meetings, lectures/talks, social occasions and events that will educate and encourage the participation of the community in local art and history;
Maintain, preserve and reconstruct as necessary or desirable any building in which the Museum is located; Seek and organise public support for the Museum
