Due to the financial costs of being a Charitable Trust we cant afford to get our accounts done by an accountant.We are a group of older women and most of what we do now is responding to community needs as best we can , having garage sales, doing bottling and pickles to encourage self sufficiency and promote Maori language for youth

Charitable Purpose

We develop social, economic or cultural need within the Tuhoe rohe and develop community led solutions that help build skills, knowledge and independent self management for individuals, whanau and our communities. We have a history of successful development and delivery of community programmes,research and advocacy including:Marae based Cuisine and Nutrition courses [3 years] A social impact assessment looking at potential impacts and issues of the return of Tuhoe assets and post grievance issues.Researched the experience of 30 Tuhoe Cancer survivors.Advocated with Whakatane District Council for community changes via liquor licensing, Rural Hall Review and growing fruit trees. We also run sewing and textile classes with a qualified dressmaker all voluntary and run an Opportunity Shop to fund raise for National Charities.Along with that we have a yearly fashion Show to raise funds for example Cancer Society,Taneatua Fire Brigade.We also run sessions on bottling and pickling .

We have a President, vice President,Treasurer,secretary and about 50 members.We affiliate to the National Maori Women's Welfare League and also Regionally to Waiariki Regional Maori Women's Welfare League
