Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Society provides a channel through which appropriate representation could be made to regional, local/district and governmental authorities on planning, preservation and conservation of the Eastern Bay of Islands and for joint action to be taken where appropriate. The Society's objects include the conservation, protection and enhancement of the native biodiversity of the Eastern Bay of Islands and the preservation of the natural character of the coastal environment and its catchments, together with its outstanding natural features and landscapes, and protecting this natural character from inappropriate subdivision, use or development. These objects are carried out while respecting the natural, recreational, historical and cultural features and values of the Eastern Bay of Islands.
