Purpose & Structure
Charitable Purpose
The purpose of the Society shall be to administer the Sir Julius Vogel Awards, which recognise outstanding examples of Science Fiction (SF) as a literary form in all its aspects produced during the preceding year, as voted for by members of the Society and presented annually at a national SF convention. The Society shall also foster the development of New Zealand's SF fan community. It currently oversees an emergency relief fund for SF convention organisers, which comprises the profits (if any) of previous conventions.
