Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To receive, hold, manage and administer the Trust Fund for every Charitable Purpose benefiting Ngati Maniapoto whether it relates to the relief of poverty, the advancement of education or religion or any other matter beneficial to the community of Ngati Maniapoto and all the members of Ngati Maniapoto irrespective of where those members reside and for every charitable purpose benefiting: (a) Maori who are not members of Ngati Maniapoto; and (b) members of the community generally.

Entity Structure

The Maniapoto Maori Trust Board established the Maniapoto Fisheries Trust (in 2006/7) as its MIO for the purposes of the Maori Fisheries Act 2004 to receive and administer the fisheries assets for Ngati Maniapoto and to act as the Iwi Aquaculture Organisation for the purposes of the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004.
