Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Clown Doctors New Zealand (CDNZ) is a charitable trust that provides medical clowning services in hospitals and elder-care facilities in several centres across New Zealand. It defines itself as “an artistic organisation with a social responsibility.” The Clown Doctors mission is to bring joy and laughter to children in hospital and to support healthy ageing. All clown doctors are specially trained to provide support during difficult treatments through psychological support and motivation for physical therapy. The team are trained to use humour for health and contribute to a more heartfelt and humorous society.

Entity Structure

Governance Structure: The Trust comprises of a board of 6 Trustees who oversee the governance of the Trust. A Chief Executive who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Trust and reports to the trustees. The Programme Director assists with administration management and supporting the CEO in running the organisation.
