Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

a. eradicate introduced pests on Karioi maunga and its surrounds b. protect threatened native wildlife and plant-life on the maunga. c. re-introduce wildlife that has been lost from Karioi, including kiwi, weka, kokako and others species of bird and insect life. d. re-introduce species of native plants that have been lost and replenish stocks that are in danger of being lost. e. identify, with Tangata Whenua, wähi tapu sites and to protect the identified areas from public access. f. support or carry out environment research in consultation with, and approved by, Tangata Whenua, which may also include the monitoring of waterways in the area. g. establish an educational facility for school groups, visitors and researchers. h. assist environmental education programmes within schools and the broader community. i. provide pest eradication and forest management training to local community members. j. establish walkways and create a vibrant wildlife reserve that people may visit a
