Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Pit park People Society Incorporated are a voluntary community group working in partnership with the Palmerston North City Council (PNCC). The group has a Memorandum of Understanding with the PNCC and are working to mitigate a former clay/shingle quarry that has become an urban industrial wasteland. The 6.3 hectare site is being restored with native plantings, wetlands are being developed and the site is becoming a passive recreation space for the community to enjoy.
