Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To assist families in obtaining the support they need to build strong foundations to manage and support infants, children and youth with both type one and type two diabetes. To offer them skills and information to keep their children safe and to maintain good diabetes control. To foster friendships with other children wit the same challenges, to that they have a network for peer support and understanding.

Entity Structure

Diabetes Youth (Wellington) Inc ("the Society") is an incorporated society and is also a registered charity. It operations and are governed by its constitution that aligns the requirements of the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. The Society is overseen by a committee, including a part-time Family Support Officer. The committee meets monthly and its activities are centred on providing family support, delivering information, developing peer networks and increased self management via camps.
