Charitable Purpose

To provide a facility available to school groups, clubs and family groups in a safe setting and one in which our visitors can enjoy our key values: environment, education, local industry and community all set in a beautiful, easily accessible rural location.

Entity Structure

The Kawhatau Outdoor Education Centre was formerly the Upper Kawhatau School and holds a special place in the hearts of local families who attended the school throughout the generations. The Centre has now evolved into a popular spot that caters for large groups such as schools, family gatherings, clubs as well as local events with accommodation and catering facilities. The Centre is run and upkept by volunteers within the Kawhatau Valley.
