Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To restore, maintain and operate the original Gifford Observatory to establish a useable astronomical observatory for the recreational use of young astronomers in the Wellington region; and to work co-operatively with other community groups to restore, maintain and operate the Gifford Observatory as a useful recreational community resource.

Entity Structure

The Board of Trustees shall consist of not less than three (3) nor more than eight (8) members, of which the Board of Trustees of Wellington College shall have the right but not the obligation to appoint at least one member PROVIDED that any such appointee shall be approved by a resolution of the Board.
