Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Coastguard Central Region’s mission is to be the ‘go to’ people for marine safety, education and search and rescue services. We do this by • Providing management, operational and funding support to 9 Coastguard unit boards and committees in the Southern Region • Providing training and support to 325 volunteers who work within our 9 units • Working in the best interests of our units and their volunteers with our national body and liaison with the three other Coastguard regions

Entity Structure

Our constitution states that our board shall comprise of seven (7) elected members. The elected members must be a member of one of our 9 Coastguard units who are the ‘members’ of Coastguard Central Region. The two appointed members are appointed by the elected members. The board has a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson who are elected by board members after the annual general meeting. The term of office is two years, with the right of re-election for a further two subsequent and consecutive
