Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Our Mission “To ensure modern athletics facilities and programmes for our region.” The Trust’s mission is to establish and provide the facilities and equipment for a modern composite surfaced athletics track and associated facilities, and making them available to a greater cross-section of the community. It will provide for use in school competitions, specialist training for other sporting codes, and be a valuable resource for disabled athletes to reach their full potential. The Trust will provide an administration structure for the track, ensuring its promotion, maintenance and availability for compatible recreational and sporting activities. The structure will provide clear delegation of responsibilities, reporting monthly to the Trust chair, or Trust executive office. It is also the Trust’s mission to attract more young people into the sport of athletics by providing specialist training and coaching to give them every opportunity to compete nationally and internationally.

Entity Structure

The Trust Deed requires full regional representation when appointing trustees. This is to reflect the regional use of the track facility. The Trust is to comprise of 8 people, two from Nelson City, two from the Tasman District, two from the Marlborough District and two who are independent. It has not been possible to attract any Marlborough representatives.

Annual Returns

Annual Returns are due within 6 months of a charity’s balance date (financial year-end), or a longer period if an extension has been granted.

Exemptions
