Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Mokihinui-Lyell Backcountry Trust (MLBT) is the lead entity responsible for creating and maintaining The Old Ghost Road. Our purpose is, via The Old Ghost Road, to 1) Help transform and diversify the region's economy and build resiliency via growth in visitor numbers; 2) Foster increased backcountry recreation and appreciation; and 3) Support conservation outcomes (via a predator control programme on The Old Ghost Road) and enhance conservation outcomes via public engagement.
