Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To support chaplains accredited to the University of Canterbury, Lincoln University and any other tertiary institution within Canterbury. To oversee, foster & encourage the work of such chaplains & ensure suitable living accommodation. To these ends seek donations and other means of finance or support from individuals, churches, government & other organisations. To engage in and support such other activities within tertiary education institutions in Canterbury for the welfare of students & staff.

Entity Structure

The membership comprises representatives from each church denomination that contributes towards the support of the chaplains, representatives from both the staff and executive of the students' associations of the University of Canterbury and Lincoln University and co-opted members appointed by the committee. The executive appointed by the committee, comprising a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, chaplains & one other member of the committee are entrusted with conducting the committee business.
