Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The purpose of NHLWV is: (a) to stop men’s violence and abuse to women, children and other men. (b) To support, educate and empower women and children to promote their safety (c) To raise public awareness that family violence is unacceptable (d) To promote non-violent alternatives for teenagers and adult men, women and children (e) To support and educate children and teenagers who have been affected by family violence.

Entity Structure

NHLWV has a Board which consists of 4-6 Board members, including a Board Chair and a Treasurer. The Board meets every 4-6 weeks to oversee the governance of NHLWV. In addditon to the Board, NHLWV also has a Management team of 3 staff members (who report to the Board). The Staff Management team is responsible for the day to day operation of NHLWV. Employees who are not part of the management team and contractors report to the management team. Decisions at both Board level and Staff Management tea
