Purpose & Structure
Charitable Purpose
-to provide services and support in the provision of harm reduction activities in the South Island and
wider Aotearoa New Zealand;
-to optimise the health of people who use drugs and particularly those who inject drugs and/or
engage in other skin piercing activities and to reduce drug related harm and prevent the spread of
blood borne disease throughout the South Island and wider Aotearoa New Zealand;
- to deliver, and assist in the delivery of, funded services and support consistent with the Charitable
Objects;
- to monitor consistency and availability of harm reduction services, in the South Island and wider
Aotearoa New Zealand;
- to adhere to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to respect views and recommendations of the
tangata whenua, kaumatua and kuia on issues of Maoritanga; and
- any other associated activity that the Board considers is necessary or desirable to directly or
indirectly advance the Charitable Objects,
