To encourage interest in the many facets of the Whanganui River and its watershed and to promote public use and guard its natural values. To provide information to the public at large and document the history of the Whanganui River.

Entity Structure

The affairs of the society are managed by its committee. The committee consists of the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and up to 9 other Committee members elected annually at a general meeting. The committee may meet for the dispatch of business, adjourn and otherwise regulate the societies business as they see fit. The quorum necessary for the transaction of business shall be one half.
