Reason why charity is no longer registered:

The Canterbury Education and Community Trust raised funds for it's charitable purposes by holding events in the large venues in Christchurch. These were destroyed in the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. As well as this the main sponsor for the Charitable Events the co-owner of CTV was killed as well as his staff and his building destroyed. The Trust electronic records of the musical events recorded by CTV were lost. Many of our volunteers left Christchurch and we are unable to get our organisation restarted. The Trust Chair and Secretary undertake small charitable musical performances for the elderly but does not undertake to raise funds on a large scale and so it is decided to deregister the Trust.

Entity Structure

The Canterbury Education and Community Trust consists of 4 Board members and works with volunteers to hold community events including charity auctions which raise funds for the issuing of grants used for educational purposes. The Community events are based on popular music and dance and include concert opportunites for all ages. Costs are met from sponsorship, raffles and a small cost recovery entry charge if required.
