Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Birthright works to strengthen and enrich the lives of children and families. We specialise in working with families led by one person. As the result of an organisational change project undertaken with member organisations, the entity has determined that a new structure will be more suitable to achieve it's mission in the future. This is therefore the last report for the entity known as Birthright New Zealand Incorporated. The work undertaken by this entity will continue through Birthright New Zealand - a charitable trust and registered charity.

Entity Structure

Birthright NZ Inc is the national umbrella organisation for Birthright organisations in NZ. These member organisations are autonomous legal entities but as part of the national organisation work together to achieve the Birthright mission throughout New Zealand. The governance board has up to 7m representatives elected by the Birthright member organisations, and up to 3 people appointed by the governance board. Their work is supported by a small team in the national office.
