Charitable Purpose

Inter-Country Adoption New Zealand Inc. (ICANZ) is a not-for-profit organisation, begun in 1989, registered as an Incorporated Society in 1992, established for the following aims: To provide help to persons residing in New Zealand who wish to adopt children from outside New Zealand and bring up such children as part of their own families, and To provide education, support services and cultural development activities that enhance and promote the parenting skills required for such a purpose, provided that o Such adoptions are in the best interests of the child and are carried out with respect for his or her fundamental rights as recognised in international law, o And ICANZ operates in a manner that is not for pecuniary gain within the meaning ascribed to those words in the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. To undertake, promote, support and encourage other charitable works as ICANZ may from time to time approve.
