Charitable Purpose

We (Linwood Avenue Union Church) recognise that we are part of a worldwide community that is the Body of Christ. With an inclusive nature and an attitude of grace, love and hope, we will work to make the gospel message of God's love serve as a real reminder in the lives of those in our worshipping community, and to the wider communty in which we are located and serve, using our particular strengths.

Entity Structure

Linwood Avenue Union Parish is part of a national organisation of union parishes. We are a Christian organisation in partnership with 3 church organisations: The Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church and Christian Church. Its governance arrangements are covered by two important documents. One is the "Covenant" or Agreement unioned by the partner churches while th other is the Guide to Procedures. At a local level, within the Parish, there is a Parish Council.

Exemptions

This charity has been granted an exemption from filing an annual return by 31 December 2008 under Section 43 of the Charities Act 2005. The first annual return is due by 31 December 2009. This entity has also been granted an exemption pursuant to s43 from the requirement to provide individual branch rules - the UCANZ "Guide to Procedures" has been deemed to be sufficient as it binds all constituent parishes.
