Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To encourage the practice and study of Zen Buddhism in accordance with the individual realisation of the Enlightened Way by Shakyamuni Buddha, then transmitted through his successors, including Dogen Zenji, and as expounded in his “Mountains and Rivers Sutra“. To provide opportunities for training in Zen Buddhism in New Zealand under the guidance of, and with support from, the Mountains and Rivers Order.
