Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The WSFCTT is a registered charitable trust set up to fund, develop and run a 2 year land-based, residential agricultural training program. The trust was established by members of a local discussion group who could see the dire need for high quality training of young people who not only had the necessary skills to operate challenging hill country but also could develop skills in agriculture business management. It has been in operation since 2007.

Entity Structure

The Trust employs a full time manager and a full time cook. The theory component is delivered by a tutor from EIT in Gisborne. The on farm training is provided by employees of Waipaoa Station The trust is governed by a Board of Trustees who meet 2 monthly. Governance roles include finance, HR, relationship with Waipaoa owners, strategic direction, funding, compliance, policy, cadet selection and cadet feedback
