Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Acorn Trust Mission is to provide an "Inspiring Christian Learning Environment" and the Trust values statement is "Thriving Woven Communities". The Trust aims include: - provide education to children through operating a creche for the benefit of and to support the community. - support and encourage by any means whatsoever other Christian religious work of whatsoever kind or wheresoever the same is carried on.

Entity Structure

Our Trust Deed states that trustees must be appointed by unanimous approval of the elders of South West Baptist Church (SWBC). They must be a member of good standing in the congregation. Current trustees include a retired primary school teacher, a Pastor from SWBC, the current Manager of SWBC and a member of the Core Leadership Team of SWBC. The Acorn Trust became a legal umbrella for the Halswell Community Creche, now called the Lighthouse Preschool and Nursery, in 1990.
