Charitable Purpose

Manaia Health PHO Ltd was established on 1 July 2003 and is a Primary Health Organisation within the Northland District Health Board. The PHO funds and coordinates services, provides resources and expertise for primary healthcare providers and delivers some specialised primary healthcare services. First level primary healthcare is provided by 4 Māori health organisations, 20 Pharmacies and 22 General Practices.

There are two equal shareholders of Manaia Health PHO Ltd: • Terenga Paraoa Ltd - This company is made up of Māori health providers and hapū of the Whangarei and Kaipara districts. • Whangarei Healthcare Ltd – This company is made up of doctors and practice nurses working within Manaia Health PHO.
