Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

We work with individuals and families to support them gaining access to long term accommodation. We deliver accurate and quality housing information that is relevant, current and accessible to all. Our mission is to ensure that no person in the Manawatu is without housing adequate to their needs and in line with the requirements of the Residential Tenancies Act. The Principles of HAC are: a) The Housing Advice Centre views adequate and affordable shelter as a basic human right. b) The Housing Advice Centre recognises that Maori people are the Tangata Whenua of Aotearoa New Zealand, therefore, the Centre's principles shall uphold te Tiriti o Waitangi. c) The Housing Advice Centre is opposed to discrimination on the grounds of race, nationality, culture, gender, sexual preference, marital status, employment status, disability including physical, intellectual and mental health. d) To be a sustainable and reputable housing information organisation providing leadership on housing issu
