Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The Huntly Museum, owned and operated by the Huntly Mining and Cultural Museum Society Incorporated, has been established to collect and preserve the history of the social history of the area. The Society will record, preserve, research, educate and exhibit items relevant to this history with an emphasis on, but not limited to, mining from 1864 onwards. The Society will also encourage local community groups to carry out activities at the Museum providing these activities do not conflict with the Society's aims.

Entity Structure

The executive Committee of the Society shall consist of a Chairperson, a Deputy Chairperson, a Secretary, a Treasurer or one (1) person as a Secretary Treasurer, one (1) appointed Committee member from Waikato District Council and no fewer than three (3) elected Committee members. These comprise the Executive and shall consist of not less than seven (7) members.
