Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To raise the status and advance the interests of the profession of building surveyors. To encourage members to develop a better understanding of the responsibilities and duties imposed by building and other relevant Acts and Regulations. To achieve this, the Institute facilitates opportunities for the members to meet, correspond and exchange knowledge relevant to the science of building surveying, building control, pre-purchase property inspection, and project compliance oversight in New Zealand. Review, promote, or lobby for legislation and standards which will provide safe and healthy buildings for our community. To support the building management and emergency framework and process as needed via training leadership and logistical onsite attendance.
